Our mission is to provide an atmosphere where members can find and give support and encouragement through positive social and professional interaction, while promoting a positive voice for, and presenting a positive image of, gays and lesbians within the greater community.
Founded in 2002 as part of our philanthropic program, the FOCUS Grant has been awarded to students from all over southwest Missouri. The grant will be paid to the post-secondary institution/technical school of choice, and is to be applied toward tuition, fees, supplies or university housing expenses. The grant will be valid only for the year it is awarded, and may not be used toward any previous bill the student may have with the institution at which the grant is awarded. Selection will emphasize potential for success, involvement, activism and/or need.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- The applicant will be gay or lesbian and/or the son/daughter of a gay or lesbian person.
- The applicant will be seeking education or training beyond the secondary level at an institution/facility of their choice.
- The applicant will be graduating from high school or have a GED.
- The applicant will be a resident of southwest Missouri.
